Where in the US do you find the Highest rents for a One Bedroom Apartment

map and cross US Dollar symbolWhile here at Poplar Ridge Apartments in Fort Wayne, IN, a one bedroom apartment starts at $379.00 a month, the average rent across the country is now about $1,231 per month.

You’ve probably read about high rents in big cities like New York or LA, but have come to expect reasonable rents here in the Midwest.  But that’s not always the case.  Consider frozen little Williston, North Dakota, just a few miles from the Canadian border.  How much would you guess a one bedroom apartment in this city of 18,532 people would go for?  $250 a month?  $675 a month, or $2,400 a month?

If you went with $2,400 a month, you’d be right, assuming you can find a vacant apartment at all.  Williston, as it turns out, is smack in the middle of our nation’s newest oil boom.  The oil industry needs far more workers than this small city can provide, so now the towns population has swelled to over 30,000.  The good news is that big paychecks from the oil companies help pay the rent which is now higher than New York (about $1500 for a one bedroom), LA ($1411 a month,) or even Boston ($1,537 a month for a one bedroom.)  Those rents are according to Apartments dot com.

At Poplar Ridge, you can save even more on your rent with our early bird rent program.  Pay before the first and save $40 each month.  Visit our office for more details.
