The Twelve Events of Christmas (in Fort Wayne)

On the 1st Day of December, Poplar Ridge Apartments gave to me, a list of great Christmas events going on around Fort Wayne!

1. Christmas at the Farm

Visit the 8th annual Christmas at the Farm at Salomon Farm Park on December 3rd for holiday vendors selling homemade items and a visit from Santa Claus.

2. Breakfast with St. Nick

Bring your kids to St. Francis on December 3rd from 9:45am-noon for breakfast with St. Nicholas and fun activities. Bring your camera to take pictures with St. Nick.

3. Holiday Pops

The Fort Wayne Philharmonic is back at the Embassy Theater with the Holiday Pops December 9-17 playing some of your favorite traditional and contemporary holiday favorites.

4. Ice Skating

Lace up your skates and head over to the Headwater’s Park Ice Rink. Hours are Mon-Thur 1-8pm, Fri noon-10:00pm, Sat 11:00am-10:00pm, and Sun noon-8:00pm. Admission is $5.00 for 14 and over and $3.00 for 13 and under. Skate rental is $2.00.

5. Festival of Gingerbread

Visit the History Center for the Festival of Gingerbread going on now through December 11th to view decorated gingerbread houses. Santa Claus will make an appearance on December 3rd from 1-3pm.

6. Botanical Conservatory’s 12 Days of Christmas

Explore the Botanical Conservatory and discover elements from the 12 Twelve Days of Christmas sprinkled throughout the conservatory. Kids will love climbing in the nest with goose eggs and sharing a croissant with a French hen. Get your photo taken in a swan boat surrounded by poinsettias.

7. Garden in Lights

After exploring the inside of the Botanical Conservatory, head outside onto the Terrace for a display of lights synchronized to holiday music.

8. It’s a Wonderful Life

The First Presbyterian Church presents “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” select dates through December 18th. The Frank Capra holiday classic is recreated as a 1940’s radio drama along with live sound effects and holiday carols.

9. Fantasy of Lights

The Fantasy of Lights at Franke Park is a holiday tradition for many Fort Wayne area families. Drive through the park and view 1.5 miles of over 85 animated light displays depicting holiday scenes of animals, elves, toys, Santa and more.

10. Santa Train

Go for a 20-minute train ride with Santa and the Fort Wayne Historical Society. Santa Train runs Saturdays through December 18th.

11. Festivus (For the Rest of Us)

Looking for something a little different this year? Trubble Brewing is hosting the 2nd Annual Festivus (for the rest of us) on December 23rd from 4pm-midnight. Festivities include the Airing of Grievances, Show us Your Tinsel contest, a DJ, Feats of Strength, and more!

12. New Year’s Eve Ball Drop

Wrap up the holiday season and countdown to the new year with Fort Wayne’s first New Year’s Eve Ball Drop on New Year’s Eve from 7pm-midnight at the Barrett McNagny Parking Lot on Berry Street. Enjoy live entertainment, fireworks, and a spectacular LED tower counting down to 2017.
