One thing that’s always been true about living in Fort Wayne, IN is there are a lot of things going on all of the time. The trick is to have the time to do them. Extra time is one of the great things about living in Poplar Ridge Apartments in Fort Wayne, IN. While others are spending the first nice days of spring working on their yards, you have the time to do something fun with your family.
The first spring holiday, St Patrick’s Day is about a week away. Fort Wayne now celebrates with the Get Green Fest, a full day of family activities sponsored by the Fort Wayne Fire Department, and several local businesses. Because St. Pat’s Day is on Monday (March 17) this year, the Get Green Fest has been scheduled for Saturday, March 15, so everyone can participate.
It all starts at 9:30 with the (kilts optional) 5K Kilt Race through downtown Fort Wayne. The race starts at the corner of Superior and Calhoun streets, and everyone is welcome to walk or run all or part of the race.
The action then moves to the Old Well’s StreetBridge at 11am for the annual river greening. I think the St. Mary’s River already looks a bit green, but the fire fighters will dye it even greener with an eco friendly dye no worse than anything else that’s in the river now.
Step across the bridge with the green river now flowing underneath, and enjoy the Strongman Competition from 9:30am to 3pm.
When watching all that heavy lifting wears you out, go have fun on the Wells Street Corridor with music, food, Lucky the Leprechaun, eating contests, a kid’s fun zone and gold coin drop.
At 6, it’s time to take the kids home or to grandmas, so the adults can party with live music and cold drinks on Wells Street.
Take advantage of all the extra time you get from living life at Poplar Ridge, and spend more time with your family. Enjoy Get Green Fest 2014 on Saturday, March 15 in Fort Wayne, and check back to the Poplar Ridge Apartments blog for more spring 2014 activities.
