It’s an easy knock on Fort Wayne to just sit around and say there’s nothing to do. But this just isn’t the case. There are lots of things to do in Northeast Indiana all year, you just have to plan ahead a little. Here are a few things happening just in April, all a very short drive from your Poplar Ridge Apartment home.
First, an easy one, the Fort Wayne TinCaps. For some, the TinCaps are baseball. For others, the TinCaps are family fun entertainment. For others, it’s both. Dad can enjoy watching baseball and eating brats, while the kids will be entertained for hours and all at an affordable price. The TinCaps will be home at Parkland Field the entire week of April 14th. Tickets start at $5.00 each.
Hey, there are also two more Komet Hockey games left this month as well.
Opening day for the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is April 26. On Sunday, April 27th, the zoo is hosting the Party for the Planet, a chance for kids to take part in various earth-friendly activities from noon until 3pm. Because you live in Poplar Ridge, you’re only a short drive away from one of Indiana’s best attractions (so voted best in 2012!)
Now, here’s a free family activity also on Sunday April 27th: The Little River Wetlands Project. In addition to displays from local conservation groups, there are live hawks and owls from Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rescue. Eagle March is a wetland preserve on the southwest side of Fort Wayne, offering over eight miles of trails. It’s a great place to visit on any nice spring day. Eagle Marsh is at 6801 Engle Road not far from Poplar Ridge Apartments.
The Vera Bradley Outlet Sale is this week, Thursday through Sunday, April 9-13, at the Coliseum. People travel hundreds of miles to attend this annual sale. From Poplar Ridge, you only have to travel 8.2 miles.
In conjunction with the Vera Bradley Sale, is the Vera Bradley Open Tours at DeBrand. That’s right, DeBrand, the chocolate place. The location for this event is at 10105 Auburn Park Drive. That’s on Auburn Road, just south of Dupont. There is a charge for this event. Learn more here: www.debrand.com
Tour dates and times:
Tuesday, April 8th through Saturday April 12th: 10 am – 6 pm
Sunday, April 13th: 12 noon – 5 pm
