We all scream for ice cream: Here’s where to find it in your neighborhood
Looking for a way to cool down from the high temps? There’s no better way than grabbing a cool treat! If you’re in the mood for a scoop (or bowl) or two, head to one of these Fort Wayne ice cream shops not far from your Poplar Ridge Apartment.
Ice Cream (and frozen yogurt) in Fort Wayne
West Central MicroCreamery
Locally-owned West Central MicroCreamery located downtown along with their parent company, Carousel Ice Cream on State Street and in New Haven, make their own ice cream and boy is it tasty! They also have delicious vegan options for our dairy-free friends (call ahead to make sure they have some before venturing out).
Red Mango
Head over to Jefferson Pointe for a light treat. This place is known for its all-natural froyo, which is chock full of calcium and protein. Yes, dessert can be healthy and tasty! Choose from tart, sweet and Greek varieties. They even have smoothies and parfaits.
Zesto’s
Zesto’s is a bit of a local institution. Many people in the city consider the opening of their stores as one of the first signs of spring. They have four locations in town; the Falls Drive store is the closet to Poplar Ridge. Here, you can find traditional ice cream cones, shakes, malts, floats, banana splits, and even classic ballpark fare like hot dogs.
Cold Stone Creamery
Also found at Jefferson Pointe, this place is a slice of heaven. It’s called a “creamery” for a reason; the icecream is ever so rich. The best part? You get to design your own creations. There is a flavor for everyone.
DeBrand Fine Chocolates
Although not a traditional ice cream shop per se, DeBrand’s is worth the trip. In addition to gourmet chocolates, choose from an assortment of icecream and gelato. The toppings are what make the dessert. You can’t go wrong with their raspberry drizzle. Find them at Jefferson Pointe.
