Back to School is an exciting time, but it can also be stressful — especially to families on a limited budget. The Salvation Army offers help to these families in need with the Tools for School program. This program is designed to help cover basic expenses for necessary school supplies such as backpacks, pencils, pens, notebooks and other items for children in grades K – 12. This program operates on the charity of the community, including Poplar Ridge Apartments through their membership in the Apartment Association of Fort Wayne, which donates needed supplies during the summer.
If you require assistance in getting your children the necessary supplies for school, the Salvation Army will be accepting applications for the Tools for School Program at the following dates and times:
Tuesday August 14th and Thursday August 16th
Doors will be open each day from 9am to 11am and 1pm to 3pm
You will need to have the following information available when you come to the interview:
- Your photo ID
- Proof of Income and Expenses
- Social Security Cards for ALL school age children
- Birth Certificates for ALL school age children
Eligible families will be able to pick up their needed school supplies immediately following their interview.
Assistance is based upon donations and is not guaranteed. The doors may close early dependant upon the availability of supplies.
If you wish to donate school supplies for this program, drop them off at the Poplar Ridge Office.
