Halloween is less than a week away. Get in the Halloween spirit by locking the doors, dimming the lights, and watching some of the best scary and not-so-scary Halloween movies.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
You can’t go wrong with any Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter movie. Sweeney Todd is not only a killer movie (pun intended), it’s a killer musical about a barber who slits the throats of his customers and bakes them into pies.
The Shining (1980)
A classic horror film starring Jack Nicholson who becomes the Winter caretaker of an isolated hotel and becomes a homicidal maniac.
I’m not sure what’s scarier, Jack Nicholson’s character, “redrum”, or the twin girls in the hallway!
Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Everyone’s favorite Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington, accidentally stumbles upon Christmastown in another Tim Burton musical perfect to watch at Halloween or Christmas!
See it in the theater this weekend at Coldwater Crossing Cinema on Washington Center Road.
Halloween (1978 – 2009)
It’s not Halloween without binge-watching the entire Halloween film series. This 10 movie series is an American horror classic! Does Michael Myers ever die?!?!?!
Hocus Pocus (1993)
A great not-so-scary Halloween movie starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. In this hilarious film, unsuspecting pranksters accidentally conjure up three outlandishly wild witches from 17th-century Salem.
The Evil Dead (1981)
5 friends head to a cabin in the woods where they find the Necronomican and unknowingly awaken the dead.
For another, funnier take, watch the play, Evil Dead: The Musical.
